  1. Mac Kerberos Authentication
  2. Mit Kerberos Windows 10

Anyone know if Mail.app works well with Kerberos v4 and IMAP? I hate the Keychain, and since my 200+ OS X Mac desktops already are bound to Active Directory, and we use Exchange 2003, I figured why not try kerberos. Whenever I set my test Macs Mail.app to use Kerberos, they are instantly taken offline and can't get mail. Kerberos works fine on my Mac desktops. They use it for SMB services on a Win2k3 file server with no problems. Just cant get it to work with IMAP.

All my Mac users authenticate with Active Directory at login time (when they boot and log on to our domain). We use Apple AD plugin (OS X 10.3.x) They get a Kerberos ticket when they log in. Does this mean they need a 2nd ticket when they get email? Or can they use the initial log in ticket? Any ideas on how to get Kerberos to work with Mail.app? OS X 10.3.4 and OS X 10.3.6 Macs AD controller = Win 2k3 Server Exchange 2003 server Kerberos is enabled on the Exchange server Mail.app uses IMAP (port 143). Mac Kerberos Authentication

To open the Kerberos application: If you have installed the Mac OS X Kerberos Extras, go to the Applications folder, open the Utilities folder, and open the Kerberos.

Mit Kerberos Windows 10

Entourage (the version in office2004) does show all of these correctly. I found this 'Exchange bug' after I deployed Mail.app to 200 Macs with a new Exchange server! I was pissed. NOBODY at Apple could explain the bug or help me at all (no documentation,no tips, no understanding, nada). Datasheet for mac.

Then I got really reallyu pissed! I finally just used plain-old IMAP (opposed to Apple's 'Exchange/IMAP' version) and it's fine now. All messages show up properly. Of course I had to.manually. reconfigure all 200 Macs with 'plain' IMAP. How did you discover the bug?

Kerberos

NOBODY AT APPLE could explain or help me (no documentation, nada). I WAS MORE PISSED. I finally just used plain-old IMAP and its fine now. I had to manually reconfigure all 200 Macs with IMAP. How did you discover the bug? I noticed immediately when first using mail.app that the email count was different from that seen in Outlook, so I experimented a little.

MacSafari kerberos

Annoyingly, it also occurred in the previous entourage version! I have been submitting this bug to Apple since thee first occurrence of mail.app and resubmit/add info to it every time the system gets updated. Has not been fixed at all. Luckily Microsoft fixed Entourage for 2004 (it now shows those missing posts), but I really like Mail.app much better.
